Slalom Glider Slide Injury Lawsuit

Was your child injured due to a fall from a Slalom Glider Slide?

The Slalom Glider Slide, a playground slide manufactured by Landscape Structures Inc., of Delano, Minn., was recalled in February 2012, after more than a dozen children suffered serious injuries, including broken arms and legs, and at least one fractured collar bone and one bruised spleen, following falls from the slide. Landscape Structures has stopped selling the Slalom Glider Slide because of its dangerous design.

Slalom Glider Slide Recall

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), about 900 Slalom Glide playground slides were sold to schools and other facilities between January 2006 and December 2011. The Slalom Glider is a distinctive 6-foot high playground slide that is curved in shape and made from molded plastic. It includes an arched, tubular steel access ladder. Unlike most slides, children are supposed to straddle the Slalom Glider as they slide down.

According to the CPSC, the Slalom Glider lacks a transition platform on the top and sides of the chute. As a result, children can fall when moving from the ladder to the slide and when descending the chute. Falls from the Slalom Glider Slide are known to have seriously injured 16 children under the age of 8. Injuries have included 14 broken arms and legs, one fractured collar bone and one bruised spleen.

Landscape Structures Inc. issued a Slalom Glider Slide recall on February 16, 2012, and no longer sells the slide. The firm has offered customers the option of receiving a replacement piece of playground equipment, receiving a refund, or receiving credit towards a future purchase.
